Parent Participation Involvement

Every family contributes to our school to keep it properly maintained and operated. Miraloma requires all parents to teach monthly. One of the most special aspects of being a part of a cooperative nursery school is the ability to take part in your child’s first educational experience. Here is the list of jobs and tasks that each family is asked to do.

Required Parent Participation

  • Last call signups — 14 annually

    (1 per month + 1 extra per month in December, January and February; minus 1 month for closures)

  • Maintenance  — 9 hours annually

    (3/4 hours per month)

  • Housekeeping — 12 hours annually

    (1 hour per month)

  • General Meeting attendance — 1 meeting per month

  • Social — 1 time annually

  • Holding a family job 

Family Jobs

When you join the school, you will be asked about your family’s strengths and will be assigned to a family job. Returning families will be asked to be on the board. Board members have a separate meeting once a month, and are exempt from some required tasks. 

Our school provides maternity leave and single parent exemptions.
